GOD’S SCRIPT

You were born into it
Written before there was any sign of you
With the perfect cast carefully chosen by him
You being the protagonist
Your antagonist begged to be squeezed in
He let him in, for he knew you were a strong character as far as he’d created you
All you needed to do was follow his direction
And the enemy wouldn’t dare touch you
But somehow there was an unexpected twist
A twist that gave the enemy a chance
A chance to present a different script he’d written
A script with all the sweet tastes of the world
Something you had not seen on the previous script
It was too long you had not read a quarter
But his was short and exciting, it seemed to be the best at the moment
You dropped the show to start a new one
All went well, you were on fire
You loved living, somehow you overlooked the fact that it was short and would end soon
The climax was reached too soon and you felt like you were walking on water
And then somehow you contaminated things of the world
Your health began to weaver
You looked around for a twist on the script
But it had its twists exhausted
All alone you were
Suffering pains unbearable to your soul
From a faint view you began to see the rest of the script
It was ending and so were you
You remembered the one you neglected before
And wish you could ask for another chance
But shame closed you in
Worse your condition grew as hope faded
You hid behind closed doors for the fear of what people would say
Until you got a hold of a manual
A manual that looked familiar
A manual you remember attached to your script
A manual which contained directions to follow your script independently
In it you came across Romans 8 and realized you had been a fool
In Deuteronomy 31:6 you discovered he had not left nor forsaken you
In Matthew 11:28 you discovered that you’d been carrying a heavy load when he’s offered to give you rest
In 1 John 1:9 you discovered a solution to all that was wrong
You broke down and asked for forgiveness
…And he smiled at you and gave back the script
Start right where you’ve left off, he said
With trembling hands you accepted and thanked him for his mercies
Carefully and guarded you found the page where you stopped
And realized how far in life you would be should you have followed upon the script
Should you have never been tempted by the temptations of the world
The temptations of the antagonist in your script
You would be far gone and enjoying life the best way with no limitations
Until he comes

THE NAME OF JESUS

I often hear people say, ‘do not play with the name of Jesus’, whenever one uses it for simple things, and I’ve realized that people think the name of Jesus only works for certain things and not all things. I used to think the same way, I thought you only used the name of Jesus when praying, but all of that changed the day I was taught by the Holy Spirit himself that the name of Jesus was versatile and could be used at any situation.

I am going to tell you a story that changed the way I viewed the name of Jesus entirely, a story that changed my life as far the name of Jesus is concerned.

2010 summer, Sheila (more of a sister to me) and I were walking to church and for some reason she, Sheila decided that we used a different route we’d never used before-Mandela drive of Pretoria. The road was well-known for mugging, but we used it anyway and for some reason I was not moved by what I’ve heard about the road before, I was freely walking and talking all the way. I was going on and on about I do not remember what as we were approaching two guys who were approaching us. Sheila having studied criminology (I thought that was the reason, really) had already studied the two guys and concluded that they were thugs and were going to mug us, but my virtuous new soul in Pretoria never even thought for a moment that, that would happen, I went on talking and the next thing, the two guys blocked my way and surrounded me, at first I’d thought they had surrounded us but when I looked by my side, Sheila was long gone, she’d left me there with them, she was standing far from us on the road from the pavement. I’d be lying if I said I saw her take off. The next thing I know, one guy was behind me and the other before me with a screw driver to my stomach, and my phone in my front pocket. The guy with a screw driver to my stomach said hey bitch bring the phone in Setswana and out of nowhere, when one could have expected me to tremble and give up my phone, instead of fear, upon me came a great wave of bravery, I became so brave and I could feel my temperature rising for anger. I looked at him, mind you, i was a little taller than him, I looked down at him and said “in the name of Jesus, you will not do anything”. At that, he tried to reach his hand to my pocket but I held on to it, he demanded for my phone once again emphasizing the weapon on my stomach but I said it again “in the name of Jesus you will not do anything” and I felt the guy behind me moving away, when I said it the third time, they both took off, they ran saying “in the name of Jesus you won’t do anything” I looked at them and exclaimed “you are fools”.

The name of Jesus had saved me… from thugs. From that day, I knew that the name of Jesus was not limited to certain things, I knew I could use the name of Jesus anywhere and it would work for me. The name of Jesus will not only save you from being choked at midnight but anywhere, everywhere and at any time.

John 14:14 says “if ye ask anything in the name, I will do it”. notice the scripture does not say if you ask for certain things in the name, I will do it, rather it says “anything” anything is anything, there is no limit there, anything can be asking him to make your car start-should you tell a believer who is having car trouble to command the car to move in the name of Jesus, they would probably laugh at you, or not believe that it can work but the truth is it can work, only if you believe it. Christianity is all about believing, no, life is about believing.

I once heard a story of a Christian doctor who wanted  to see what really heals people, he wanted to see if it is the medicine that has the most power or just the mind, so what he did was; a patient came to him and explained all the symptoms she had and he told her that he was going to give her something that would take the sickness away in no time. He went to wherever he mixed the medicine from and came back with water contained in a medicinal container and gave a name to it. The woman took the water and the next day reported how the doctor had helped her. From that, the doctor learned that her wellness did not have anything to do with medicine but her mind. She had believed the doctor, she’d believed in the medicine that he’d given her and that was what made her fine.

You need only to believe in the name of Jesus, you need only to believe that whenever you use the name of Jesus, something will happen, because the truth is; something is bound to happen because the name of Jesus carries all the authority in all the earth, under the earth and above.

THE GOD-GIVEN GIFT IN YOU

By gift I am not referring to the obvious gifts that are freely given to us when we become children of God, yes you become a child of God, you are not born a child of God, rather you are born as one of the people of God, you only become a child of God the day you get born again, that is accepting Jesus as your lord and savior-let me not deviate from the main subject, this is a subject for another article. Back to the gift of God, I am referring to that talent, that thing only you can do best in your own unique way, that thing that gives you ultimate satisfaction just for doing it, even before it produces results or even before you are commended for it, that thing you would do even if there was never to be income from it, provided there were no bills to pay (this is to let you know that I know you have to make money).

Say you had no bills to pay, no expenses at all, say living was just as free as walking in the park, what is that one thing you would do just to satisfy yourself? What is that one thing you know you would do right no matter how grey the sky got? Do you know it? Then why are you not doing it now? Because it wouldn’t pay the bills huh? Tell you what; any God-given gift in you can pay the bills, only if you believe in it, only if you focus all your energy in doing it without doubt. A man of God said something that really moved me recently during a Sunday preaching, he said, ‘do not do things based on your current abilities, do what God has called you to do’ and I thought, that is the most profound thing I’ve heard all year,I realized that, should I follow upon what God called me to do, my life would be a lot easier, if you have read my previous article titled ‘far down the wrong road? Make a U-turn’ you will understand why I say my life would be a lot easier. Trust me, doing what God has called you to do is the best thing you can ever do for yourself.

I believe everyone has something to offer, that is why you are here by the way-so it’s certainly not for specific people but for each and every individual who has ever been born into this world, and it is certainly not a mistake that you are good at making people laugh, I’m sure God loves to see his people laughing every now and then. We often neglect our gifts, bury them to follow some courses for the sake of making a living, we fully convince ourselves that the very gifts God has invested in us can never land us a living, and we depend on the intellects of other people to live our own lives. Isn’t that the saddest thing in the world? Why do you think the God who knows the end from the beginning gave you that talent? Have you ever asked yourself why you? There must be something important about it being in you, if you believe that God knows the end from the beginning then I take it you believe that he knows every little thing due to happen on your path, I take it you believe he programmed your life and invested all the necessities before you were born, one of the necessities being that gift.

Another man said something on Tshwane FM just recently and I happened to hear it as I was writing this article, he said; “When you follow your talent, you automatically feel happiness, it elevates you, you can be cutting tomatoes but if it’s your talent, it automatically satisfies you, discover your talent because it will make you feel special” and Pastor Chris once said, “What is that one thing you know you can do really good? Get to work and make a success out of it”.

What I am trying to do here is let you know that there is more within you to get you wherever you want to be, you are too important to God and you carry something beneficial to his people or else,i bet you would have died as a baby or before you were even born, let alone the fact that God would have just chosen not to create you. That gift in you can make a better living for you than all the worldly degrees, a most satisfying living for you and your maker, do not bury it or ignore it, you rather do it part-time than not at all. If you have not discovered it yet, search yourself, ask God and don’t look back.
